Farley Challenges Gillibrand to Take Term-Limit Pledge

With chaos ruling in Washington and political ambition run amok, U.S. Senate candidate Chele Farley (R, C, Reform) today challenged her opponent, incumbent Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, to take a pledge limiting her term in Washington, DC.

"The partisanship, gridlock and chaos in Washington is reaching all-time highs, while the focus on addressing real problems has been cast aside. Career politicians like Kirsten Gillibrand are the cause of our present crisis," said Farley.

Farley, a vocal supporter of term limits, has pledged to serve only two terms in the United States Senate. To memorialize that commitment, Farley has signed on to the MOE Term Limits agreement. MOE is an advocacy group that promotes congressional term limits within the Republican Party.

"My opponent Kirsten Gillibrand has already gone native: She lives in Washington full time and views New York issues through the "lens' of her 2020 ambitions. With almost 12 years in Congress, where she has passed only one bill to rename a post office, term limits are essential," said Farley.

According to Open Secrets, in 2016 93 percent of US Senators and 97 percent of House members won re-election. Yet when asked in public-opinion surveys, 75 percent of Americans support congressional term limits.

Concluded Farley, "If elected, I pledge to serve only two terms and then go back to private life. I'm calling on Kirsten Gillibrand to join me in that pledge."
